We have now completed the fifth year of publication for Gulf Fire magazine and what a fantastic journey it has been. The success of Gulf Fire has been down to the hard work of the whole MDM Team and the fantastic encouragement and feedback received from readers and advertisers alike – our grateful thanks to you all.

This issue is packed full of in-depth and interesting features, from the latest industry news and product announcements as well as specialist feature editorial, you will not be disappointed.

As is the tradition, Gulf Fire editor Neil Wallington kicks off the issue with his Editor’s Comment* and with a further eighteen in-depth and informative articles, we are sure that you will find the issue interesting – look out for the fascinating company and product profiles.

Be sure to check out the Special Report from Kees Kappetijn on ‘The Beirut explosion; an inconvenient truth for the industry and authorities’ , ‘Crowd Source’ from Victoria Hutchison and ‘Fire design of composite beams with web openings protected with reactive intumescent coating’ , from Dr Mostafa Jafarian and Dr Jifeng Yuan.

Enjoy this issue and please continue to share your comments with us – it’s your publication as well as ours and we are always looking for ways to improve the magazine. With the continuation of the global pandemic it was no real surprise to learn of the cancellation of Intersec 2021. It is disappointing that we won’t be able to catch up with clients and colleagues during this much anticipated annual event, but it is better to be safe than sorry. We will still be providing the online Gulf Fire Intersec Exhibitors Showcase to provide all the exhibitors, who had planned on attending, the opportunity to share news and new products with the readership.

Please take care and we all look forward to a brighter 2021.
