FLIR Systems is the world leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of thermal cameras for a wide variety of personal, commercial, and government applications.
Thermal cameras are well-known tools in the firefighting community, and their life-saving qualities are firmly established. However, not all thermal cameras are equal. Each model has its pros and cons.
All FLIR thermal imaging cameras have been developed specifically to meet the demanding requirements of firefighting use. During the development of these products, FLIR worked directly with firefighters around the world to make sure their unique needs were addressed met in every phase of the design process.
Earlier in 2016 FLIR announced that it will begin distributing bundled packages of the DJI Zenmuse XT stabilized thermal camera powered by FLIR with the DJI Inspire 1 drone. FLIR will distribute two configurations of the FLIR Aerial Drone Package for First Responders, Basic or Advanced, to bring drone-powered thermal imaging to firefighters, emergency response teams, and search and rescue (SAR) operations in ready-to-fly bundles.
Also announced this year was the FLIR KF6, a fixed, aerial mounted thermal camera that allows apparatus operators to pinpoint hot spots in the smokiest of conditions during overhaul operations. With a crisp 640 x 480 resolution thermal image and wide 69 degree field-of-view, the FLIR KF6 enables operator’s to see through smoke to identify the seat of the fire for accurate water infiltration. The KF6 thermal camera uses FLIR’s proprietary Flexible Scene Enhancement (FSX) technology, which provides ultra-sharp thermal detail, even in extreme temperatures.
