After 31 years service with Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Steve Griffiths recently retired as the Director of Operations. During his career he was seconded to Eurotunnel, the Channel Tunnel operators, to establish firefighting and rescue services for the tunnel systems. Steve attended the first fire in 1996 as the technical advisor to the fire and rescue commander and conducted the firefighting post-incident investigation. In 2008 he was the senior fire officer in charge of the on-site response to the incident at the Channel Tunnel.
